Yaz/Yasmin Lawsuits Moving Forward
The Yaz/Yasmin litigation in the federal court MDL and state court consolidations are proceeding through the discovery phase including preliminary depositions and extensive document review.
In the last month or so, the first depositions of Bayer representatives have been taken. The goal of these preliminary depositions is to gather additional information about Bayer and its birth control pills Yaz and Yasmin. This information should uncover Bayer employees that were involved with the development and marketing of Yaz/Yasmin and help with the understanding Bayer's corporate structure.
Attorneys pursuing lawsuits in the MDL, including lawyers from Jackson Allen Williams, are in the process of reviewing millions of pages of documents about Yaz and Yasmin including the FDA approval process, indications for use (i.e. PMDD and acne) and marketing plans.
It will take time for the documents to be reviewed and for the litigation to proceed to a point where a settlement may be possible.
